In what has been an unprecedented year with the COVID-19 pandemic, which resulted in the lockdown of people all over the UK during March and April, most of the events planned for 2020 were cancelled, local authority’s events were cancelled across the country, all the RHS shows were postponed and all the National Trust properties were closed to visitors.
Along with many other businesses, this caused huge disruption to our production team, with designs that were drawn up and in some cases planted up were cancelled just weeks before delivery despite the effort our team had already put into them. Notable customers of ours such as Waddesdon Manor and Chatsworth House were also hit hard, and for the first time in many years their gardens lay without a bedding display. Our fantastic 3D Spitfire that was produced for Ashford Borough Council for VE Day has also been postponed until 2021.
However, in true British spirit during lockdown the country stepped up to help each other and help our wonderful NHS who’s amazing efforts across the nation saved countless lives and reduced the effect of the virus to a minimum.
Once lockdown restrictions were reduced we were able to produce some wonderful carpet beds with rainbow themes and NHS logos to honour the NHS, with donations to local charities for each display sold. Perhaps our highlight of the year was being given the opportunity to supply The Royal Family with two large NHS themed carpet beds displayed at Buckingham Palace!
We have put together the below gallery, highlighting some of the most impressive displays we created this year, including several VE Day displays from Guildford, Wootton Bassett, Tatsfield and many more. We hope you enjoy scrolling through the designs and finished displays that we were able to produce.
Despite this years challenges, we are looking forward to what 2021 will bring, and we would like to thank all our customers who continued to support us throughout this difficult period.
